Barnsdale Gardens, Japanese Garden Day 15th August, 11am to 4pm Garden Entry fee Come and say konichi-wa to our
resident Japanese gardening experts. Nori and Tats Shirai from Tokyo in Japan, will be on hand to answer all your questions
about the typical plants, special elements and design requirements of an authentic Japanese garden. A selection of
photographs and books on the subject will be on display in the exhibition marquee and the Barnsdale Japanese Garden

Burghley House Festival of Surprises - Children's workshops 7th to 22nd August. A two week

Belvoir Castle, Storytelling. 1st August to 26th August. Sundays to Thursdays during August there will be storytelling

Belvoir Castle, Firework Competion. 21st August. A truly spectacular night out for all of the family - 3 of the UK's
leading firework companies compete against each other with a 10 minute firework display choreographed to music.
Gates open at 5pm and the fireworks start at 9:30pm, bring a picnic or choose from the food and drink available onsite.

Stapleford Miniature Railway open weekend 29 August to 30 August. The historic railway which
celebrated 50 years in 2008 will be in operation over nearly 2 miles of scenic line with up to 5 steam
locos scheduled in use each day (subject to availability) Including the railways new East African Railway
and harbours 31 class steam locomotive completed late 2008. Admission only £3 per car (note smalll charge

expert Philip Rudkin for regular bird spotting walks around our gardens. Learn about the best trees and shrubs to plant for
